The salaries of deputies are being reduced

The Hungarian parliament voted to reduce the salaries of deputies.

According to Medianews.az, the bill adopted on June 8 provides for the reduction of salaries from 2,182,488 forints (5300 dollars) to 1,309,493 forints (3200 dollars). The initiative was put forward by the ruling party.

In the country, the parliamentary election held on April 12 was won by Peter Macar's Respect and Freedom Party, which gained the right to form a government. On May 9, Peter Macar took the oath in parliament and assumed the position of prime minister.

One of Peter Macar's first steps in power was to reduce state expenditures, including significantly lowering the prime minister's salary. According to the information, Peter Macar receives a salary close to 10,500 euros. This amount is less than half of the previous head of the government's salary.

Since 2010, Viktor Orban, leader of the Fidesz Hungarian Civic Alliance, has been prime minister of Hungary. He also held the same post from 1998 to 2002.
