The trial of Maharram Aliyev, Qurbanxan Isgenderov, and Yashar Heydarov, who are accused of embezzling a large amount of state funds, has concluded.
Medianews.az reports that a verdict was read at the Lankaran Court of Serious Crimes, presided over by Judge Ayshen Valiyeva.
According to the verdict, Maharram Aliyev was sentenced to 2 years probation, Qurbanxan Isgenderov was sentenced to 2 years, 1 month, and 5 days in prison, and Yashar Heydarov was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months of restriction of freedom.
The sentence of Qurbanxan Isgenderov was credited with the time he spent in pre-trial detention, and his sentence is considered served. The house arrest measure against him was lifted and until the verdict becomes final, a "commitment not to leave" preventive measure was chosen.
It was stated that the majority of the damage caused by the accused to the state has been paid.
The total damage caused in the case was calculated to be 66,472.17 manat.
According to the investigation, during the period from August 24, 2022, to October 31, 2023, when Maharram Aliyev worked as the head of the Masalli District Executive Authority, it was established with reasonable suspicion that he, together with a group of people including the chief accountant of the institution Qurbanxan Isgenderov, abused his official position to embezzle more than 73 thousand manats of budget funds entrusted to him with the help of Yashar Heydarov, director of "Mohammad-2022" LLC, and also committed official forgery by knowingly entering false information in official documents with the intent of personal gain.
Based on the collected evidence, Maharram Aliyev was charged under Articles 179.3.2 (embezzlement on a large scale), 308.1 (abuse of authority), 313 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code, while Qurbanxan Isgenderov and Yashar Heydarov were charged under Articles 32.5, 179.2.3, 32.5, 179.2.4 (complicity in embezzlement by abusing official position and causing significant damage), 308.1, 313, and other articles of the same Code.
