Why did the 500 manat banknote disappear? - The Central Bank explained the reason

The Central Bank has clarified why the 500 manat denomination commemorative banknote is rarely encountered.

Medianews.az reports that the mentioned banknote was issued into circulation in 2021 to immortalize the historic Victory achieved by the valiant Azerbaijani Army under the leadership of the victorious Supreme Commander in the 44-day Patriotic War.

The Central Bank stated that the 500 manat denomination commemorative banknote was produced and issued in limited quantities, totalling 1 million units.

"This banknote is considered an official means of payment within the country at its nominal value. Since it was produced and issued in limited quantities by the Central Bank, this banknote is encountered less frequently in circulation compared to other denominations."

Information about the volume of banknotes in circulation can be obtained from the “National Banknotes” section on the Central Bank's official website. (Yeni Sabah)
