The damage to Iran's energy sector has been disclosed.

Since February 28, amid US and Israeli military airstrikes against Iran, damage exceeding 250 trillion rials (approximately 191 million dollars) has been inflicted on Iran's energy sector.

This was stated by Iran's Deputy Minister of Energy and CEO of TAVANIR Company, Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi, in an interview with local media.

According to him, 1,900 incidents have been recorded in the US and Israeli military airstrikes on Iran's electricity sector. The serious consequences of these incidents have been resolved by the electricity sector employees.

Rajabi Mashhadi noted that the damage, mainly in Tehran province, resulted in a maximum of 1 hour of electricity supply restriction.

It should be noted that on February 28, the US and Israel launched military operations against Iran. The strikes were directed at the country's largest cities, including Tehran. The White House justified the attack by citing missile and nuclear threats originating from the Islamic Republic. As a result of the strikes on Iran, the country's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and some other key leadership figures were killed. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps declared that it is carrying out a large-scale retaliatory operation against Israel. Iran is simultaneously targeting US facilities in Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Syria with ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones.

As a result of the conflict, the region's energy infrastructure and maritime transport have also come under serious risk. Due to security tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, global oil prices have sharply increased. Iran fully maintains control over the Strait of Hormuz and only allows ships it deems necessary to pass through the strait./Trend
