According to Medianews.az, cardiologist Bilal Boztosun stated that timely and proper intervention during sudden cardiac arrest saves lives. According to him, early heart massage and respiratory support significantly increase the chance of survival.
The specialist noted that when resuscitation (CPR) is performed correctly, it is possible to revive the patient even after prolonged interventions. Positive results are especially more observed in young patients.
The doctor advised untrained individuals to be cautious. He stated that in such cases, first of all, it is necessary to ease the patient’s breathing, loosen tight clothing, and immediately call emergency medical services.
The doctor emphasized that delay can lead to severe complications. The brain being without oxygen for a long time poses a serious risk, and even if the heart restarts, brain functions may not recover.
It was also noted that not every loss of consciousness means cardiac arrest. Incorrect intervention can harm the patient. Therefore, it is recommended to only intervene with professional knowledge, otherwise immediately call medical assistance.
