Despite all difficulties, in 2025 the State Commission, together with the expert staff of the relevant state institutions, conducted search and excavation works three times in the Murovdag mountain range in the Kelbajar district, which has the most difficult terrain and harsh weather conditions. Although search and excavation works were carried out in the Kelbajar direction in previous years, this year the process was carried out systematically with the application of drone technology and positive results were achieved.
AZERTAC reports that this was stated by the head of the State Security Service (DTX) of the Republic of Azerbaijan and chairman of the State Commission related to prisoners of war, missing persons, and hostages, General-Colonel Ali Naghiyev, during his speech at the international conference titled “Combining efforts and expanding cooperation to solve the problem of missing persons” within the framework of the Baku Dialogue on Missing Persons.
Ali Naghiyev said that currently the team consisting of specialists is continuing the search and excavation works in the Aghdara district. Another mass grave was discovered at a height that had been a past battle position. According to preliminary information, the mass grave contains the remains of more than 10 Azerbaijani servicemen. According to the program of the event, tomorrow a visit to this area by the conference participants will be carried out.
