Strong explosion on the Sun has occurred

On Monday morning, the highest "X" class explosion on the Sun was recorded. This is the first flare of this category observed since the beginning of February.

This information was provided to TASS by the Institute of Applied Geophysics.

On March 30, at 07:19 Baku time, an X1.5 class explosion was recorded in the sunspot group 4405 (S25E45) lasting 49 minutes in the X-ray range.

The last time such a powerful explosion (X4.2) occurred was on February 4 in the active region numbered 4366. That area later set a 21st-century record on the Sun for the number of M and X class flares.

Sergey Bogachyov, head of the Solar Astronomy and Helio-Physics Instrumentation Laboratory at the Space Plasma Physics Department of the Institute of Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences, had previously told TASS that there is a probability of 5-10 more explosions of the highest class occurring by the end of the year.

Depending on the power of the X-ray radiation, solar explosions are divided into five classes: A, B, C, M, and X. The weakest A0.0 class corresponds to a radiation power of 10 nanowatts per square meter in Earth's orbit. Each subsequent letter increases this power by a factor of 10. As a rule, flares are accompanied by the ejection of solar plasma, and when these plasma clouds reach Earth, they can cause magnetic storms./oxu.az
