Spain restricted its airspace: Which planes will not be allowed to fly?

Spain has closed its airspace to planes involved in U.S. operations against Iran.

This was reported by the newspaper "El Pais."

According to the newspaper, Madrid not only bans the use of bases in Rota (Cádiz province) and Moron-de-la-Frontera (Seville province) by fighter jets or refueling planes participating in the attacks, but also prohibits U.S. planes stationed in third countries such as Great Britain or France from entering Spanish airspace. It is noted that there is only one exception to the restriction: in emergencies, permission will be granted for the plane to take off or land.

It was previously reported that, against the backdrop of the kingdom's refusal to support the U.S.-Israeli military operation in Iran, the U.S. decided to redirect its refueling planes stationed in Spain to other countries.

Recall that on February 28, Israel's Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that the Israel Defense Forces had launched a preemptive strike against Iran. Large cities in Iran, including Tehran, were hit by the strike. The operation was named "Lion's Roar." Both countries closed their airspace. Later, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the U.S. was also participating in a military operation against Iran. According to the Pentagon, the U.S. operation against Iran was called "Epic Rage." Iran, in turn, fired dozens of ballistic missiles at Israel.

Iran also launched drone (UAV) and missile strikes on U.S. bases throughout the Middle East—in Qatar, UAE, Bahrain, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan. The airspace of all these countries remains closed. Iran called its operation "True Promise 4."

Iran's state television confirmed the killing of the country's supreme leader Ali Khamenei. It also confirmed the deaths of several high-ranking Iranian military officials, including Ayatollah Ali Shamkhani's advisor, IRGC commander Mohammad Pakpour, and Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh./oxu.az
