What is reintegration and why is it important?

Measures continue to be taken in Azerbaijan to ensure that children deprived of parental care grow up in a family environment.

Medianews.az reports that within the year 2025, 176 children have been reintegrated into their biological families, and 40 children have been placed with guardian families.

Reintegration means returning a child, who has been separated from their family for various reasons, back to their family and ensuring their growth in a safe family environment. During this process, the social status of the family, the safety of the child, and the child's psychological condition are carefully evaluated.

Experts state that growing up in a family environment is of significant importance for the child's psychological development, formation of social skills, and establishing healthy relationships in their future life.

In their opinion, institutional care should be considered as a last resort, and whenever possible, children should be returned to their families or directed to family-type services.

The reintegration process does not end solely with returning the child to the family. Providing families with social, psychological, and material support, and regularly monitoring the child's condition are also among the important factors.
