“In the first quarter of 2026, wind energy production reached a record level, increasing 26 times compared to the same period of the previous year, totaling 247.7 million kWh.” Economist MP Vuqar Bayramov said this in an interview with Medianews.az.
He stated that in the first three months of last year, wind energy production was 9.5 million kWh: “In the first quarter of this year, production of ‘green energy’ in Azerbaijan increased by 8 percent, reaching 925 million kWh. During this period, 6,066 million kWh of electricity was produced by HPPs, 510.5 million kWh by TPPs, and 414.5 million kWh from other sources.”
In developed countries, communities and households produce energy from renewable sources, including wind and solar radiation, both covering their own consumption and selling the surplus to the state. The application of similar experience in Azerbaijan could, along with increasing electricity production, lead to citizens purchasing cheaper energy. This can reduce energy costs while enabling the implementation of a new approach to energy production and sales. For this, it is also important to form a community-based integrated infrastructure. New “green challenges” bring new approaches into focus.”
