According to the data, the regions are distributed as follows for 2025: of the 26 recorded cases, 10 occurred in urban areas and 16 in rural areas. Specifically, in the city of Baku, a total of 4 cases were recorded, 2 of which occurred in the Sabunçu district, and 1 each in the Surakhani and Yasamal districts. No such cases were recorded in other districts of Baku city.
In the Nakhchivan economic region, a total of 4 maternal deaths were recorded. Of these cases, 1 occurred in Nakhchivan city, 1 in Babek district, and 2 in Kangarli district. In the Absheron-Khizi economic region, 1 such case was recorded, occurring in Sumgait city. In the Ganja-Dashkasan economic region, 1 maternal death was recorded, which took place in Ganja city.
In the Karabakh economic region, a total of 4 maternal deaths were recorded. Of these cases, 1 occurred in Agjabadi district, and 3 in Barda district. In the Gazakh-Tovuz economic region, 1 case was recorded, which happened in Gazakh district. In the Guba-Khachmaz economic region, a total of 2 cases were recorded, with 1 case each in Guba and Gusar districts.
In the Lankaran-Astara economic region, a total of 4 maternal death cases were recorded. Of these, 2 occurred in Jalilabad district, 1 in Lankaran district, and 1 in Yardimli district. In the Central Aran economic region, 1 case was recorded, which happened in Kurdamir district. In the Mil-Mughan economic region, 2 maternal deaths were recorded, both of which occurred in Imishli district. In the Sheki-Zagatala economic region, 1 case was recorded, occurring in Sheki district. In the Shirvan-Salyan economic region, 1 maternal death was recorded, which took place in Hajigabul district.
No maternal death cases were recorded in the Mountainous Shirvan and Eastern Zangezur economic regions throughout 2025.
It should be recalled that looking back at previous years’ indicators, 20 maternal deaths were recorded each in 2020 and 2021, 18 in 2022. In 2023, there was a sharp increase to 33 cases, and in 2024, 29 maternal deaths were recorded.
