UN: "Work-related psychosocial risks cause the death of 840,000 people every year"

Psychosocial risks in the work environment cause the death of 840,000 people annually.

This is stated in a report published by the United Nations International Labour Organization (ILO).

According to the information, excessive workload, job instability, workplace pressure, and other factors lead to deaths. These risks seriously harm the health of millions of people. Psychosocial risks primarily cause cardiovascular diseases and mental disorders. As a result, 784,000 and 56,000 workers respectively lose their lives due to these reasons.

Among the risk factors are ineffective work organization, the mismatch between the effort exerted and the reward received, and complex relationships within the team. All of these significantly increase the risk of stroke, cardiovascular diseases, mental health problems, and suicide.

According to the report, deaths caused by work-related psychosocial risks also seriously harm the global economy. The economic losses created by these factors amount to approximately 1.37% of the world's GDP./oxu.az
