The oldest man in the world has been found: smokes cigarettes, drinks coffee

The person considered to be the oldest in the world has been found in a nursing home in Brazil.

Medianews.az According to Lent.az, this person named Luis Carlos dos Santos is 118 years old and has some unusual habits for this age. He smokes self-rolled cigarettes and drinks coffee in the evenings.

After verifying several documents, including his birth certificate, Brazil’s “RankBrasil” organization (a body similar to the Guinness World Records in the country) confirmed that Luis was born on February 15, 1908. Thus, he surpassed the previous record holder – 116-year-old Ethel Caterham from Great Britain.

Luis lives in a nursing home and has been there for over 50 years – which is a separate record. He was brought to this institution on September 10, 1971, with the help of a priest. According to the staff of the institution, Luis leads a quiet and solitary lifestyle, but this does not bother him. He still walks actively, does not need medication, eats his own food, and smokes cigarettes. In addition, he drinks coffee three times a day, with his last cup taken at 7:30 pm.

Despite his age, Luis is quite alert. He did not even fall ill during the COVID-19 pandemic. One of his most notable traits is that he never likes to accept help from others; on the contrary, he prefers to help others himself.

Luis still brings joy to the other residents in the nursing home: he collects stones from the street and spends his nights sitting down, which has become his habit over the years. The secret of his long life is not fully known, but his life story is undoubtedly inspiring and impressive.
