Iran is 21st, Turkey 22nd, Ukraine 32nd, Russia 36th, Uzbekistan 50th, Georgia 72nd, Belarus 97th, Tajikistan 103rd, Armenia 106th, Kyrgyzstan 107th, Kazakhstan 110th, Azerbaijan 124th, Estonia 129th, Latvia 137th, Turkmenistan 141st, Lithuania 148th, Moldova 159th in the ranking.
The ranking is based on results obtained taking into account the importance of the matches and the opponents’ positions before the match. The coefficient for an official friendly match is at least 5, maximum 10, in an international tournament the match’s minimum coefficient is 15, maximum coefficient 60.
A win in regular and extra time is 1 point, a win in penalty shootout is 0.75 points, and a loss in the same shootout is 0.5 points.
The Azerbaijan national team, which has been participating in international tournaments since 1994, has been eliminated in the qualifying stages of 8 European Championships, 8 World Cups, and in the group stage of 4 Nations Leagues.
