Levotobi volcano in Indonesia Erupted 9 times

At least 9 eruptions have been recorded at the Levotobi volcano located on Flores Island, Indonesia (East Nusa Tenggara province).

Medianews.az reports that the Indonesian Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation has released this information.

According to the data, ash from the Levotobi Laki-laki crater has risen to a height of 2,200 meters, that is, up to 3,784 meters above sea level. The gray volcanic ash is spreading in the west and northwest directions.

Officials have advised local residents and tourists not to approach within a 5 km radius of the crater and to use masks against the ash.

Levotobi is a twin-peaked volcano located in the southeast of Flores Island. The more active Levotobi Laki-laki peak (1,584 m) is located 2.1 km northwest of the higher Perempuan peak (1,703 m).

It should be noted that Indonesia is a large archipelago consisting of 18,000 islands and, due to its location in the "Ring of Fire" zone of the Pacific Ocean, has high seismic activity. The country has over 500 volcanoes, approximately 130 of which are active.//Bakues.az
