The weather is changing: The Ministry of Emergency Situations appealed to the public

The Ministry of Emergency Situations has made an appeal to the public regarding the expected windy and unstable weather conditions in some areas.

Information was provided to Medianews.az from the ministry.

It was stated that according to the National Hydrometeorology Service, in the coming days strong winds will occasionally blow in a number of areas, intensive rain will fall in some places, short-term floods will occur in some mountain rivers, and lightning strikes are forecasted.

Taking these into account, the Ministry of Emergency Situations once again reminds of the relevant safety rules.

Specifically, during strong winds, it is recommended to stay away from light structures and temporary buildings, from buildings and advertising boards, and not to stand under electric poles and wires or tall trees.

Additionally, considering the difficulties caused by strong winds in extinguishing fires, fire safety rules must be strictly observed especially in windy weather conditions. Also, small craft users should be aware that going out to sea in such weather is prohibited.

Furthermore, to protect against floods and inundations that may be caused by heavy rainfalls, it is recommended to stay away from flood and inundation dangerous areas, and in case of encountering this danger, immediately move to nearby high ground.

At the same time, in order to protect against lightning-related dangers, it is necessary to disconnect electrical devices from the network, avoid talking on the phone (landline, mobile, payphone, etc.), not to approach power lines, lightning rods, flagpoles, or antennas when outdoors, not to shelter under tall trees, to choose relatively low-lying places for shelter, and if inside a car, to stop moving, close the windows, and wait for the lightning to cease.
