The Central Bank has issued a statement on the main directions of monetary policy for 2026.
Medianews.az reports that according to the statement, decisions on the discount rate (the interest rate on loans given in manat to commercial banks) in 2026 will be announced on these days: February 4, April 2, May 6, June 24, August 5, September 23, November 4, December 23. The decisions will come into effect on the next working day after they are announced.
Currently, the discount rate is 6.75 percent.
The maximum discount rate has been 13 percent in 2007 and 2018, 15 percent in 2008, 2016 and 2017, 5 percent in 2009 and 2012, 3 percent in 2010 and 2015, 5.25 percent in 2011, 4.75 percent in 2013, 4.25 percent in 2014, 9.25 percent in 2019, 7.25 percent in 2020, 2021 and 2025, 8.25 percent in 2022, 9 percent in 2023, and 7.75 percent in 2024.
