"Serious deficiencies were detected during the inspection measures conducted in more than eighty percent of private kindergartens."
Medianews.az reports that this was stated by Qoshqar Tahmazli, the chairman of the Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency, in a joint interview with Trend and "Khazar TV".
According to him, we work closely with the Ministry of Science and Education in the field of food safety in schools and kindergartens. Regular monitoring is carried out by us both in preschool institutions and in general education institutions:
"Extensive awareness-raising activities are carried out by us in both schools and preschool education institutions. Responsible persons for food safety and quality control have been appointed in these institutions, they have been given appropriate training, and necessary instructions related to food safety have been provided. Unfortunately, the situation regarding nutrition in private kindergartens is not encouraging. Serious deficiencies were detected during the inspection measures carried out in more than eighty percent of private kindergartens. More precisely, various violations were determined in 88 of the 107 inspected child institutions. Among the discovered deficiencies are serious violations such as the use of expired food products, improper compliance with food storage regimes, cases of food product falsification, as well as providing children with plant-based oils under the name of butter. In addition, serious shortcomings related to the sanitary-hygienic and sanitary-technical conditions were recorded in the institutions. Taking this opportunity, we would also like to appeal to the heads of private kindergartens. Children are our future, and ensuring their healthy nutrition is the responsibility of every institution and every individual. Therefore, food safety, storage conditions, the organization of the nutrition regime, as well as quality and safety requirements must be strictly observed. Otherwise, in accordance with legislative requirements, relevant measures will be taken against these institutions."
