In the early hours of March 20, reports emerged about two more high-ranking officials being targeted near Tehran, the capital of Iran, and Mehrshahr district near Karaj city.
Medianews.az, citing Musavat.com, reports that according to intelligence sources and local residents, successive explosion sounds were heard in the central part of the capital and in the strategically important Mehrshahr area.
According to preliminary information, one of the targets is one of the commanders responsible for SEPAH’s logistics or communications sector, and the other is an official who plays an important role in the internal security system. Although official Tehran has not yet disclosed exact information about the identities of these individuals, it has been reported that numerous security forces and ambulances have been deployed to the scenes of the incidents.
This incident coincides just a few hours after SEPAH’s official spokesman, General Ali Mohammad Naeini, was assassinated in the early hours of March 20. It should be recalled that in recent days, devastating losses have been occurring consecutively within Iran’s governance hierarchy:
On March 17: Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani and "Basij" commander Gholamreza Soleimani;
On March 18: Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib was eliminated.
The tactic applied within the framework of the US and Israel’s "Lion’s Roar" operation is aimed at completely paralyzing Iran’s military and political management mechanism. The selection of strategic points such as Karaj and Mehrshahr as targets also shows that the regime’s so-called "secure shelters," where it tries to flee and hide, have now been completely brought under control by intelligence.
