From next year, the "Səs" newspaper will be published twice a week. This was said to Medianews.az by the editor-in-chief of the newspaper, Bahruz Guliyev.

Let us remind that the Media Development Agency will only provide financial support for the publication of one issue of newspapers per week starting from 2026. They will be paid 8,000 AZN per month along with their online version. Currently, the "Səs" newspaper, which is issued five times a week, is changing its publication frequency due to this.
The "Səs" newspaper has been published since January 1991.
In a statement to Medianews.az on December 22, 2025, Bahruz Guliyev said that although the Media Development Agency will fund only one issue per week from next year, the editorial team of "Səs" has decided to meet readers at least twice a week: "We have not yet determined on which days of the week these issues will be published. We will make a decision on this at the beginning of next year."
The editor-in-chief emphasized that the era of newspaper publishing is slowly ending: "Because more modern media tools have emerged. Social networks have surpassed all media resources. Although it cannot withstand the competition, the newspaper is a different school, a moral value, it is important to preserve it and use this school in the training of new journalists. Young journalists can enter journalism more confidently and in a more perfected form precisely when they gain experience in the school of newspaper publishing."

The Media Development Agency currently finances five daily newspapers ("525-ci qəzet", "Yeni Müsavat", "Yeni Azərbaycan", "Bakı xəbər", "Şərq"), including "Səs", for five issues per week, allocating 18,000 AZN per month to these newspapers including their online versions.
Starting from 2026, "Yeni Müsavat" and "525-ci qəzet" will be published once a week. There will also be changes in the publication frequency of the "Şərq" newspaper.
It should be noted that currently there are four other daily newspapers in the country: "Azərbaycan", "Xalq qəzeti", "İki sahil", "Novoye vremya". Of these newspapers, only one receives financial support from the Media Development Agency: funds are allocated for one weekly issue of "Novoye vremya", which is published in Russian.
