5 important rules for those working in cold weather

The drop in temperature during the winter months poses serious health risks for people working outdoors. In particular, those working in construction, road repair, agriculture, security, and other fields are directly exposed to the effects of the cold.

Milli.Az reports that specialists state that staying in low temperatures for a long time increases the risk of hypothermia and frostbite. During hypothermia, the body temperature drops below normal, which can result in weakness, lack of concentration, delayed speech, and even loss of consciousness. Frostbite is more commonly observed on the hands, feet, ears, and nose. According to doctors, cold weather also puts extra strain on the cardiovascular system; low temperature causes blood vessels to constrict, which may lead to increased blood pressure and a higher risk of heart attack. People with chronic illnesses should be especially cautious. Specialists recommend that those working outdoors wear multiple layers and heat-retaining clothes, avoid staying in damp clothing, regularly consume warm liquids, take short breaks to warm up, and avoid alcohol. Labor experts state that work schedules should be adjusted in harsh weather conditions, warming areas should be provided for workers, and protective clothing supply should be reinforced.

It is noted that taking the effects of cold weather seriously in time is important both for health protection and for maintaining labor productivity.
