For the first time in 65 years, soldiers may be executed in the USA.

The US military may execute four soldiers sentenced to death for the first time since 1961.

Medianews.az reports that ABC television channel, citing internal planning documents, provides this information.

The inmates who could be executed were imprisoned for murder and assault crimes. Initially, the plan prepared in February was named "Operation Firm Justice Court." To implement the plan, the inmates will be transferred from Fort Leavenworth barracks in Kansas to the prison in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Military official Cynthia Smith confirmed to ABC that relevant training has been conducted over the past 20 years. According to her, this is a standard part of planning against the possibility of an order that could come from the White House.

The channel notes that the last execution of a military serviceman occurred in 1961. At that time, Private John Bennett was executed for raping and attempting to kill an 11-year-old girl in Austria./Oxu.Az
