Zangezur corridor at a new stage: Signing is finished, what tasks remain?

Following the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan also signed the framework agreement on Trump's International Peace and Prosperity Route - TRIPP project.

The document was initially initialed on May 26 during Marco Rubio's visit to Armenia. Shortly after, Rubio signed the document in the US and sent it to Armenia. On June 4, Mirzoyan signed the document on behalf of the Armenian side. Thus, the process of remote signing of the document has been completed. Mirzoyan declared that the agreement is ready for ratification.

After the framework agreement on the TRIPP project is ratified, what stage will the project's implementation enter? What works are expected to be carried out next?

Political scientist Oktay Qasimov told Medianews.az that the short-term visit of the US Secretary of State to Armenia and the documents signed there, especially the final document on the TRIPP project, already means that technical, economic, and legal issues between the parties regarding this project have been resolved: “The next stage will be related to the execution of physical works in the field. This stage coincides with the parliamentary elections to be held in Armenia on June 7. Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had stated at the beginning of the year that physical works on the ground concerning the Zangezur corridor, i.e., the Trump route, will start in the second half of the year. The start of works on the ground means taking the final steps for the project’s implementation. Initially, it concerns the laying and commissioning of a railway line in the Zangezur corridor. As you know, in the future, the passage of motor roads, energy lines, gas, and oil pipelines through this corridor is also planned.”
