Iran's former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was also present when the office was bombed along with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Medianews.az reports that Araghchi stated this in an interview with "Al Mayadeen".

According to him, he was there at 9 o'clock to present a report to the Supreme Leader about the talks held in Geneva that day.

"While coming out from under the debris, all my thoughts were about whether he (Khamenei) was attacked or not. Until the news of the Leader's martyrdom was spread - in the first two days of the war, I was extremely worried about what happened to him," Araghchi noted.

The head of Iran's Foreign Ministry emphasized that "Khamenei's death was a turning point in Iran's history, and this point demonstrated Iran's power to the entire world."

He drew attention to the election of the new Supreme Leader - Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei - and stated that "the system in the Islamic Republic of Iran is strong enough not to depend on individual persons."

It should be recalled that Seyyed Ali Khamenei was killed along with close family members during the joint attack by the US and Israel on Tehran on February 28. Later, his son Mojtaba Khamenei was elected as his successor. (milli.az)
