American scientists have theoretically discovered dozens of planets where life is possible.
Medianews.az reports, referring to Oxu.Az, that the results of the research were published in the "Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical" journal.
According to the information, the scientists have identified 45 rocky planets located in the empirical habitable zone. Another 24 objects belong to a narrower three-dimensional zone, which is considered the most favorable for the existence of life.
One of the new discoveries is the exoplanet "Proxima Centauri b." It is located approximately 4.2 light years from Earth and is considered one of the closest planets potentially suitable for life.
Additionally, experts noted that the mentioned planets are so far from Earth that at the current stage humanity cannot reach them or confirm their theories.
Nevertheless, the obtained data allows refining the search criteria and focusing observations in the most promising areas of space.
The authors emphasize that determining habitable zones helps to more efficiently discover exoplanets where conditions for life might exist.
