Economist deputy Vugar Bayramov presented official statistics regarding the number, social status, and education of youth in Azerbaijan.
V. Bayramov said in an interview with Medianews.az that currently, out of the country’s population of 10 million 224 thousand, 2 million 300 thousand are aged 14-29: “Among them, 1 million 206 thousand are men, and 1 million 94 thousand are women. According to official statistics, 5.3 percent of young people are unemployed. The unemployment rate in this age group is 4.6 percent among men and 6.1 percent among women.
2,726 of our youth are pursuing education to obtain a doctorate in philosophy, and 578 are continuing their studies to obtain a Doctor of Sciences degree. Although there has been an increase in the number of young people aiming to earn a doctorate in philosophy, the number of those aspiring to become Doctors of Sciences has decreased.
Currently, the number of civil servants is 27.4 thousand, of whom 2.5 percent are aged under 25, and 13.7 percent are young people aged 25-29. At the beginning of the 2024/2025 academic year, the number of Azerbaijani youth studying abroad in higher education institutions on a state scholarship was 1,111. Among them, 212 chose CIS countries, while the rest selected other countries.”
It should be recalled that yesterday was Youth Day in our country.
