In his speech at the opening ceremony of the XIII Global Baku Forum, President Ilham Aliyev stated that efforts are being made to expand the Middle Corridor after peace with Armenia and that a direct connection with Nakhchivan will be established.

Economist MP Vuqar Bayramov said in an interview with Medianews.az that after the Iran war started, an increase in regional geopolitical threats has been observed: “The new order in the region has further actualized the restoration of transportation and economic ties between Azerbaijan and Armenia. One of the important aspects of relations between the two countries is the opening of the Zangezur corridor. The construction of TRIPP, which will be an element of the corridor, will enable the restoration of land transportation between Azerbaijan’s main part and Nakhchivan.”
V. Bayramov noted that the Zangezur corridor, which will have a transit capacity of 15 million tons, will make a special contribution to the development of the region: “Zangezur corridor, which will become an important segment of the Middle Corridor in the near future, will serve to further strengthen Azerbaijan’s geopolitical position as well as allow for increased revenues of the regional states. It is expected that trade turnover between continents will increase by 200 billion dollars. If 10-15 percent of the cargo is transported via the Zangezur corridor, Azerbaijan will earn 3 billion dollars annually in transit revenue in the near future. This also means economic dividends of peace.”
