Intensive work is being carried out to clear the roads leading to military positions located near the Iranian border in Başkale district of Van province, Turkey, from snow.
Medianews.az reports, referring to foreign media, that due to heavy snow and blizzard in the district, roads leading to military bases located in high mountainous areas have been closed.
The municipality's snow removal teams have started work to reopen these roads.
During the operations carried out in the direction of Sualtı neighborhood located along the Iranian border line, it is reported that in some areas, the snow thickness reached 4 meters. Heavy machinery is advancing with difficulty by breaking through the snow and opening tunnels in some parts.
Officials have stated that the closed roads will be reopened to traffic in a short time.
