The 2026 FIFA World Cup will have a significant impact on the global economy. According to FIFA, the tournament will generate economic activity totaling more than 80 billion dollars.
Medianews.az reports that the competition, hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada, is expected to make a serious contribution particularly to the US economy. Calculations indicate that the economic impact in this country alone will be 30.5 billion dollars. It is predicted to add 40.9 billion dollars of additional value to the global GDP.
The tournament, which for the first time will feature 48 teams, will hold 104 matches. The event, which will take place in 16 cities, is said to create extensive economic revitalization in tourism, transportation, service, and retail sectors. A total of 6.5 million fans are expected to attend the tournament.
Experts note that it is possible to create approximately 824,000 permanent jobs within the scope of the event. In the USA, this figure is said to reach 185,000.
At the same time, significant increases in ticket and hotel prices are observed due to great interest. In some cases, ticket prices for the final game exceed 10,000 dollars.
