In 2025, 10 people renounced Georgian citizenship and acquired Azerbaijani citizenship.
This was stated in the report of the National Statistics Office of Georgia.
It was noted that in 2025, a total of 1,426 people renounced Georgian citizenship, which is 166 people or 10% less compared to 2024. According to the statistics, of the 1,426 people who renounced Georgian citizenship last year, 639 acquired citizenship of the Russian Federation. Greece is in second place (209 people lost Georgian citizenship), and Turkey is in third place (121 people).
Additionally, according to the National Statistics Service, in 2025, Georgian citizenship was granted to 2,333 people, which is 1,254 or 35% less compared to 2024./oxu.az
