In Baku, a contactless payment option based on NFC technology has been created for public transport through foreign emission bank cards.
This was reported by the Azerbaijan Surface Transport Agency (AYNA).
Thanks to this innovation, foreign citizens and tourists will be able to use public transport with their international bank cards without obtaining additional cards or local payment methods. Previously, payment was only possible with local bank cards supporting NFC.
It should be noted that the transition to the NFC payment system began last year. The NFC payment system is currently used in the cities of Baku and Ganja, as well as on the Baku-Sumgait routes.
