The date for the first European Union-Armenia summit has been announced.

The first European Union-Armenia summit will be held on May 4-5.

Medianews.az reports, referring to APA, that this was shared by the President of the EU Council Antonio Costa on his "X" account.

He called Armenia a "close partner" and stated that the EU strives to strengthen relations with this country.

"We are united by our shared values, as well as our commitment to a rules-based order grounded in international law," Costa noted.

Before the summit, Antonio Costa and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen will participate in the European Political Community meeting to be held in Yerevan.

At the EU-Armenia summit, particularly the strengthening of bilateral relations in energy, transport, and digital sectors will be discussed, as well as advancing peace in the region, security, connectivity, global challenges, including the ongoing processes in the Middle East and Ukraine.
