A synagogue was attacked in London

The Kenton United Synagogue in the Harrow area in the northwest of London has been attacked.

An attempt was made to set fire to the synagogue during the attack.

The incident is considered the second suspicious antisemitic hate crime to occur in the capital in recent days.

The Community Security Trust stated that police and fire services were deployed to the scene during the night. The attack caused slight smoke inside the building, but there were no injuries and no significant damage was recorded.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan issued a statement after the incident emphasizing that there is no place for antisemitism in the city.

Chief Rabbi Efraim Mirvis described the attack as "cowardly" and noted that violence and intimidation against the Jewish community in the UK have been increasing. According to him, recent events are indicative of a worrying trend.

This incident occurred just one day after an arson attack on a building owned by a Jewish charity in another part of London, which is being investigated as an antisemitic hate crime.

The foundation’s spokesperson noted that similar incidents have been observed in the Finchley, Golders Green, and Hendon areas, and the recent attack shows that religious sites are being targeted.

Investigations into the incident continue./“Qafqazinfo”
