Nargiz Mohammadi, a South Azerbaijani human rights defender imprisoned in Iran and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, is in critical condition after suffering a heart attack.

It was reported that her family members and lawyers have visited Zanjan prison twice in the past month and observed a serious deterioration in her health.
It was noted that she has become weak, looks pale, and lost significant weight.
According to the information, Mohammadi suffered a heart attack in prison on March 24. After the incident, she remained unconscious for more than an hour and did not receive necessary medical care during that time.
Her brother, Hamidreza Mohammadi, stated that the cardiologist who examined her after the incident suggested that the heart attack could be partially related to the medications prescribed by the prison doctors.
