President Cyril Ramaphosa of the Republic of South Africa has ordered an investigation into Iran's naval-military exercises conducted near the coasts of Cape Town.
Cape Town is the second most populous city in the Republic of South Africa.
Medianews.az reports that according to the order, a commission consisting of four people must prepare a report within a month and submit it to the president.
The goal is to determine whether Ramaphosa's instruction to South Africa's military institutions not to join Iran's exercises has been followed.
The statement from the President's Administration says that if an act of insubordination is revealed, high-ranking military officers may lose their positions.
It should be noted that the US Congress Foreign Relations Committee has condemned South Africa for allowing Iran’s military exercises off the coasts of Cape Town and accused the country of collaborating with Iran and acting against the national security of the United States.
