Turmeric enhances the effect of some medicines can strengthen

Although interest in the benefits of spices has increased recently, experts emphasize the importance of using them correctly and cautiously. In particular, the interaction of some spices with medications can pose a health risk.

Medianews.az, citing Foodinfo.az, reports that gastroenterologist Yekaterina Kaşukh stated that spices cannot fully meet vitamin and mineral needs. According to her, spices are mainly used to add flavor to food and do not have a significant impact on the body's biochemical processes.

The expert noted that in some cases, the use of spices should be limited. During gastrointestinal diseases, spicy spices can worsen the condition, and in cardiovascular problems, they can affect blood pressure.

The doctor emphasized that turmeric can enhance the effect of antidiabetic drugs, leading to a dangerously low blood sugar level. At the same time, since ginger and clove thin the blood, taking these spices together with anticoagulant medications can increase the risk of bleeding.
