Natural increase: How have birth and death statistics changed in Azerbaijan?

According to the report of the State Statistics Committee, in 2025, a natural increase (birth-death ratio) of 3.6 per 1000 people was recorded in Azerbaijan.

Medianews.az reports that in 1991, the year the state independence was restored, the natural increase per 1000 people was 20.4.

In 1995, it was 12.2 per 1000 people, in 2000, 8.8, in 2005, 10.7, in 2010, 12.5, in 2015, 11.7, and in 2020, it ended with a natural increase of 5.1 per 1000 people.

In 2025, there were 9.4 births and 5.8 deaths per 1000 people.

In 1991, there were 26.6 births per 1000 people, in 1995 there were 18.9, in 2000 there were 14.7, in 2005 there were 16.9, in 2010 there were 18.5, in 2015 there were 17.4, and in 2020 there were 12.7 births officially registered.

In 1991 and 2005, there were 6.2 deaths per 1000 people, in 1995 there were 6.7 deaths, in 2000 there were 5.9, in 2010 there were 6 deaths, in 2015 there were 5.7 deaths, and in 2020 there were 7.6 deaths recorded.
