249 suspects have been detained in connection with attacks on schools in the Kahramanmaraş and Şanlıurfa regions of Turkey.

This was reported by the Communications Directorate of the Turkish Presidential Administration.

It is noted that investigations into the attacks on educational institutions are being conducted carefully and comprehensively by the Kahramanmaraş and Şanlıurfa prosecutor's offices. According to the information, individuals who shared prohibited footage related to these incidents have been identified.

"As part of the ongoing investigations, inquiries have been initiated against 661 account holders across 72 regions in total. Among them, 68 people have been arrested, court supervision measures have been applied to 127 individuals, and measures under the Child Protection Law have been taken against five individuals. 117 people have been released and handed over to their families. Efforts continue to detain and identify 95 persons. Additionally, 249 suspects are currently being held under control, and access to 1,104 social media accounts has been blocked," the directorate said.

Many account holders who threaten the country’s security and cause concern by targeting schools as the subjects of attacks have been identified.

According to the official data, 389 account users targeting 275 schools have been identified and taken under control, and legal proceedings against them are ongoing.

Recall that on April 14, during an incident at a high school in Siverek district of Şanlıurfa, 16 people were injured. On April 15, in the city of Kahramanmaraş, Turkey, an 8th-grade student carried out an armed attack at a school, killing one teacher and eight students./oxu.az
