The main concern of parents during the flu season is protecting children from the illness.
Medianews.az reports that according to experts, flu is an infectious respiratory disease caused by the influenza virus and is mainly spread through coughing, sneezing, and contact.
The risk of infection especially increases in enclosed spaces like schools and kindergartens.
Doctors primarily recommend strengthening the immune system to protect children from the flu. To achieve this, fruits and vegetables rich in vitamin C, as well as probiotics like yogurt and kefir, should be included in the diet. Homemade chicken and vegetable soups also support the body. For children over one year old, honey is considered beneficial, and adding garlic and onion to meals is recommended.
Experts emphasize that age-appropriate and regular sleep is important for immunity. Following hygiene rules, washing hands frequently, and not sharing personal items reduce the risk of infection.
Regular ventilation of the house and physical activity outdoors also increase resistance in children. Additionally, teas made from ginger, coltsfoot, rosehip, sage, and other herbs are reported to have protective and mitigating effects.
