There is a sharp decrease in car imports to Azerbaijan.
According to official statistics, the number of passenger cars imported in the first quarter of this year decreased by 7,587 units, or 36.2%, compared to the same period last year. Thus, the import figure fell to 13,359 units.
Medianews.az reports, citing Khazar TV, that according to experts, behind these figures lie both legislative changes and economic factors.
One of the main reasons is the ban on vehicles older than 10 years, whereas another is the abolition of tax benefits.
However, this decline does not mean a shortage of cars.
The chairman of the Automobile Dealers Association, Eyub Aliyev, notes that there is no need for concern regarding the country's vehicle fleet, because enough stock has been accumulated in warehouses.
According to the expert, the utilization process started in the country will also stimulate demand for new cars. As old and environmentally unsuitable cars are retired, they should be replaced by new ones.
