At the "8th kilometer market" tension

Traders operating in the Nizami district of Baku, in the area popularly known as the "8th kilometer market," have encountered serious problems. They express their dissatisfaction due to being evicted from the area where they have been operating for many years.

Medianews.az reports that this issue is covered in a video material by Baku TV.

According to the traders, they have been engaged in sales exactly in this area for 20-25 years. However, recently, relevant authorities have instructed them to leave the area. The sellers protest the closure of their workplaces, complaining about the lack of alternative locations and the financial difficulties they face.

Regarding the matter, Elbrus Ibrahimov, an employee of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), provided a statement. He stated that organizing street trade in places not designated by the respective executive authorities is against the requirements of the law. Illegal street trading leads to occupation of sidewalks, restriction of pedestrian movement, and the creation of unsanitary conditions in the areas.

To prevent such cases, police officers regularly conduct monitoring and preventive measures.
