At least 133 match results in the Dutch football championship may be annulled due to errors in players' registration.
Medianews.az reports that some players acquired citizenship of Indonesia, Suriname, and Cape Verde and gained the opportunity to play for the national teams of those countries. However, according to Dutch legislation, since they lost European Union citizenship, they were required to obtain a work permit. Nevertheless, the necessary documents were not obtained.
It is noted that the problem was first raised by the "NAC Breda" club. The team demanded a replay of the match against "Go Ahead Eagles" (0:6). The reason was the participation of defender Dean James in this match, who holds Indonesian citizenship.
The Royal Dutch Football Association rejected this demand, but the club contested the decision in court. Additionally, it is reported that the clubs "Ajax," "Feyenoord," "Telstar," "Volendam," and "Heracles" also appealed to the court. The final decision is expected to be announced on May 4.
