Astronauts observing the far side of the Moon as part of the Artemis 2 mission have made notable statements after returning to Earth.
Medianews.az reports that according to them, the Moon is not just a gray surface but has various color shades and textures.
It was particularly noted that brown and green tones were observed in some areas.
The astronauts were prepared with special training materials developed by NASA — a 90-page “Moon passport” — and, thanks to the more detailed perception ability of the human eye, they recorded color differences that robots did not detect.
It is suggested that the green minerals observed in the Aristarchus Plateau region could provide important clues about the Moon’s internal structure and magma composition.
NASA specialists say that astronauts’ voice recordings and visual observations offer opportunities for deeper geological analysis than data from artificial satellites. These observations may reveal new conclusions about the Moon’s volcanic history and surface formation.
Scientists believe that this color diversity not only arouses scientific interest but could also play an important role in understanding the early formation stages of the Solar System.
NASA states that these observations will be widely discussed at scientific conferences in the coming years and that existing knowledge about the Moon may be re-evaluated.
