Azerbaijan conducted trade operations with 170 countries in the period from January to May 2026, with exports exceeding imports by 13.9 billion dollars to 6.8 billion dollars.
Medianews.az reports, citing the State Customs Committee, that Italy stands out among trade and export partners, and China among import partners.
According to statistics, 5.64% of exports are directed to CIS countries, 47.75% to European Union countries, and 46.61% to other countries; in imports, the share of the CIS is 20.4%, the European Union's share is 14.8%, and the share of other countries exceeds 64.6%.
8.8 billion dollars of exports account for the oil and gas sector.
The three main export products excluding the oil and gas sector are as follows:
gold – 3.6 billion dollars;
fruits and vegetables – 354.8 million dollars;
plastics and plastic products – 124.1 million dollars.
The top three in imports are machinery, mechanisms, electrical apparatus, equipment and their parts (1.6 billion dollars), food products (1.1 billion dollars), transportation vehicles and their parts (911.3 million dollars).
