Azerbaijan's foreign trade: What has stood out in four months?

Azerbaijan conducted trade operations with 164 countries in the first four months of 2026, with exports exceeding 11.8 billion dollars and imports exceeding 5.5 billion dollars. The report released by the State Customs Committee listed Italy, the United Kingdom, Turkey, China, Russia, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Bulgaria, and the USA among the top ten trade partners, with Italy leading in export partners and China in import partners.

Medianews.az reports that according to the statistics, 4.76 percent of exports were directed to CIS countries, 46.15 percent to European Union countries, and 49.09 percent to other countries; in imports, the share of CIS was 20.12 percent, the European Union's share was 14.36 percent, and the share of other countries was 65.52 percent.

The trade turnover with neighboring countries was formalized as follows:

Turkey – 1 billion 82.5 million dollars export, 756 million dollars import;

Georgia – 340.2 million dollars export, 45.2 million dollars import;

Russia – 318.8 million dollars export, 722.7 million dollars import;

Armenia – 9.6 million dollars export, 0.96 thousand dollars import;

Iran – 6.2 million dollars export, 217.3 million dollars import.

7.1 billion dollars of exports fell on the oil and gas sector, 10.8 million dollars on electrical energy.

The remaining three main export products are ranked as follows:

gold – 3.5 billion dollars;

fruits and vegetables – 252.6 million dollars;

plastics and products made from them – 100.3 million dollars.

As for the top three items in imports, imports of machines, mechanisms, electrical apparatuses, equipment and their parts amounted to 1.3 billion dollars, imports of food products amounted to 912.4 million dollars, and imports of transport vehicles and their parts amounted to 754.1 million dollars.
