This country closed its border due to the Ebola threat

Uganda's government has decided to immediately close the borders with the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This step was taken against the background of an increase in Ebola virus infection cases in Congo and the virus spreading to Uganda's territory. The decision was made by the local task force fighting Ebola in Uganda. It was reported that before the epidemic was declared in Congo on May 15, cases of virus infection increased among healthcare workers who had contact with patients coming from that country.

The Ugandan government has announced that so far, 7 cases of Ebola virus infection have been confirmed in the country. It was noted that among the infected, a 59-year-old man died on May 14 in the capital city Kampala.

According to official information, although the number of recorded infections in the country remains stable, the number of people in contact with patients, especially healthcare workers, is increasing. For this reason, authorities have further tightened preventive measures in order to prevent the spread of the virus./AZERTAC
