The government is changing in Lithuania.
Medianews.az reports that, according to the coalition agreement signed on June 18, the government will be formed by the Social Democratic Party, the Union of Democrats for Lithuania, and the Union of Peasants and Greens.
It is stated that the new coalition holds 75 mandates in the 141-seat parliament, and it is expected that the Social Democrats' leader Mindaugas Sinkevičius will take the position of prime minister.
In the parliamentary elections held in October 2024, the winning Social Democratic Party entered into a coalition with the Union of Peasants and Greens and the Union of Democrats for Lithuania; in December, Gintautas Paluckas took the prime minister's chair. He resigned on July 31, 2025, and in September, a new government was formed with Inga Ruginienė as prime minister.
On June 6, 2026, the Union of Peasants and Greens was removed from the coalition, necessitating another government reshuffle.
