Citizens will be required to submit a medical examination opinion issued by a state narcological medical institution when being hired.

Medianews.az, referring to Ajans.az, reports that this has been reflected in the draft law on amendments to the Labor Code, which was discussed at today's plenary session of the Milli Majlis.

According to the draft law, employees must submit a medical examination (medical check-up) opinion issued by a state narcological medical institution when being hired for types of occupations and positions involving work restrictions for narcological patients determined by the body (institution) designated by the relevant executive authority.

Hiring a worker for the corresponding occupation and position without the above-mentioned certificate and opinion will be prohibited.

Furthermore, regardless of the parties' will or desire, the labor contract will be terminated in the following cases:

- If it is found that the labor contract was concluded with a person who is a narcological patient according to the medical examination opinion, for employment in types of occupations and positions involving work restrictions for narcological patients, or if during employment in such occupations and positions, a person is determined to be a narcological patient during a medical examination (medical check-up);
- If it is revealed that a labor contract has been concluded with a person without a medical certificate of health for jobs involving heavy, harmful, and dangerous working conditions affecting the worker's health, as well as other workplaces such as food industry, public catering, healthcare, trade, and similar fields aimed at protecting public health, in which such persons are not allowed to be employed.

Additionally, when concluding labor contracts with workers for types of occupations and positions involving work restrictions for narcological patients, their initial medical examination (medical check-up) must be provided, and thereafter periodically, as well as immediately if there are justified suspicions that the worker is under the influence of a substance affecting human psychology during the performance of labor functions, at the employer's expense.

The draft law was put to a vote after discussions and adopted at the third reading.
