Terrible disaster in Dagestan: More than 6 thousand people...

More than 6,200 people have been identified as affected by the heavy floods and inundations that occurred in Dagestan.

The republic's leader Sergey Melikov provided this information on the "NTV" TV channel broadcast.

According to him, the amount of precipitation observed in the region last weekend set a historic maximum:

"The volume of rainfall is really very large, an unprecedented event. Such a volume has not been observed even at the historical maximum. In total, more than 6,200 people have been affected by the natural disaster. Approximately the same number of individual residential houses and adjacent yard areas have been damaged."

The regional leader stated that currently, 55 temporary accommodation points are operating in the republic and more than 700 people have found shelter there. Melikov emphasized that operational conditions related to the floods are improving and measures are being taken to prevent infectious diseases.

It should be noted that heavy rains in Dagestan on March 28, April 4, and 5 caused large-scale floods. As a result of the disaster, residential houses, roads, and substations were submerged, and electricity was cut off in nearly 20 districts. Three people died as a result of the incident, and a criminal case has been opened regarding the event./publika.az
