Countries participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup will receive more prize money.
Medianews.az reports that representatives of the tournament organizing committee have issued a statement about this.
According to the decision adopted at the FIFA Council meeting held in Vancouver, the total prize fund of the tournament will reach 871 million dollars (744 million euros). This is 15 percent more than the previously announced amount.
It should be recalled that in December 2025, a total of 727 million dollars (621 million euros) was reported to be allocated. However, as stated in the official announcement, this amount has been increased due to the tournament's commercial success.
The other reason for the budget increase was appeals regarding the possibility that some participating countries might face financial losses due to tax payments and team expenses.
